MUSCAT : Restrictions have intensified around the mosque compound, with police preventing residents from reaching nearby areas, including the courtyard of the Rashidiya School. Worshippers have continued to gather at the mosque’s gates for the ninth consecutive night in protest against the closure.

On Tuesday night, Israeli forces also blocked Palestinians from performing Taraweeh prayers in several neighbourhoods of occupied Jerusalem. Security personnel were deployed around Damascus Gate and Herod’s Gate, dispersing worshippers and preventing gatherings for prayers.

The restrictions coincide with the final days of Ramadan, during which Taraweeh prayers and Itikaf are traditionally observed. Reports indicate this is the first time since 1967 that such practices have been broadly prevented at the mosque during this period.
