MUSCAT: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the ongoing Class XII board examinations for students in several Middle Eastern countries, including Oman, citing the prevailing situation in the region.

In a circular issued on March 15, 2026, CBSE informed schools affiliated with the board in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE that all Class XII examinations scheduled between March 16 and April 10, 2026 stand cancelled.

The decision follows a review of the feasibility of conducting the examinations in the affected countries. CBSE said the assessment was carried out after receiving inputs and requests from schools and authorities in the region.

“This is in continuation of earlier circulars dated March 1, March 3, March 5, March 7 and March 9, 2026. The feasibility of conducting board examinations for Class XII was further reviewed based on inputs obtained and requests received from schools and authorities of the affected countries,” the board said in the circular.

According to CBSE, examinations that had already been postponed through earlier circulars have also been cancelled.

The board said that the mode of declaration of results for Class XII candidates in these countries will be notified separately in due course.

The circular was issued by Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, CBSE, and addressed to principals of CBSE-affiliated schools across the affected Middle Eastern countries.
