MUSCAT – The Shura Council will hold its twelfth regular session of the third ordinary session of the tenth term (2023-2027 AD) tomorrow, which will witness a briefing on draft laws and agreements referred by the government. Discussions will also evaluate key committee reports, including a proposal for integrated service stations for mobile homes to boost tourism, as well as critical economic reviews concerning bank fees and support for national factories.
His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, stated that the session will review draft amendments to certain provisions of the Mineral Resources Law issued by Royal Decree No. 19/2019. The draft will be evaluated in accordance with the report of the relevant committee and the proposals of the esteemed members, before a final vote is taken to ensure its conformity with the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman.
This will pave the way for its referral to the State Council to complete its legislative process.
The session will also discuss the vision of the Services and Public Utilities Committee pertaining to several international agreements; it will address the Committee’s perspective on the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Maritime Transport between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Russian Federation, and the Air Services Agreement with both the Government of the Republic of Mali and the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The ministerial statements of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs will also be discussed and approved, based on what is stipulated in Article 69 of the Council of Oman Law.
His Excellency indicated that the session will examine a number of reports from the Council’s standing committees, including the report of the Media, Tourism and Culture Committee on the expressed wish regarding “establishing integrated service stations for mobile homes,” and the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on “bank fees” and “supporting national factories.”
