TEHRAN : Israel’s Defence Minister confirmed that the country had carried out strikes against Iran, calling the operation a pre-emptive move amid rising regional tensions. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a nationwide alert, warning citizens of the possibility of retaliatory missile fire.

Air-raid sirens sounded in several areas, and residents received mobile alerts urging them to remain close to protected spaces. In a statement posted on Telegram, the Israeli military said the alert was a precautionary measure to prepare the public for the potential launch of missiles toward Israel. Citizens were instructed to stay near shelters and follow guidance from the Home Front Command.

Meanwhile, multiple explosions were reported in Iran’s capital, Tehran. According to reports, some of the strikes targeted areas near the offices of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, though there has been no immediate official confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding damage or casualties.

Israel said it launched a missile attack against Iran as part of the operation. A United States official told Al Jazeera that the United States took part in the strikes, indicating a broader involvement in the military action.
