Muscat: As part of broader economic diversification goals, the Ministry is currently working on comprehensive policies and strategic plans to modernize and enhance facilities at Omani seaports. In collaboration with a consulting firm tasked with conducting a detailed strategic study, the Ministry is undertaking a full assessment of the sector at organizational, operational and competitive levels.

The study seeks to formulate a future-focused vision backed by a clear executive roadmap. Key initiatives currently underway include improving the operational efficiency of ports and marinas, enhancing coordination among stakeholders, increasing economic returns from cruise visits, and launching joint incentive programmes with public and private sector partners.

The Ministry is also intensifying direct engagement with global cruise operators to ensure Omani ports remain key stops on international itineraries. Competitive incentives are being refined and visitor experiences at ports are being upgraded in line with global trends in the cruise tourism industry.

Looking ahead, the 2025/2026 cruise season is set to maintain momentum. The passenger exchange process for the cruise ship Vasco da Gama will be repeated, with the vessel scheduled to arrive at the Port of Salalah on March 24, 2026.

Meanwhile, the cruise ship Celestyal will continue its operations with five scheduled visits to the Port of Khasab.

In addition, the first visit of the cruise ship Arua has already been received at Khasab Port, with the vessel also set to call at the Port Sultan Qaboos. During the 2025/2026 season, Arua is expected to make 11 visits to Khasab and five visits to Sultan Qaboos, further strengthening Oman’s cruise calendar.
