MUSCAT – In a statement, the CBO said it had observed instances of businesses featuring images of the Sultanate’s currency in marketing materials without obtaining authorisation from the bank.
The CBO stressed that, in accordance with Article (43) of the Banking Law promulgated under Royal Decree No. 2/2025, the use of the Sultanate of Oman’s currency for any purpose other than as legal tender for final settlement constitutes an infringement of the bank’s rights.
Accordingly, the Central Bank called on all companies and institutions to refrain from using images of Omani currency in advertisements or other promotional materials.
