Muscat: Widely regarded as one of the fastest and most tactically demanding stages of the Tour, today’s race is expected to spark an intense contest between elite sprinters and teams looking to impose a strong collective rhythm. The open coastal route adds a distinctive technical challenge, requiring precise wind reading, seamless teamwork, and peak physical and mental focus right up to the final metres.

Ishaq bin Abdullah Al Balushi, a board member of the Oman Cycling Federation, said the defending champions UAE Team Emirates remain the favourites to clinch the 2026 title, citing the standout performances of British rider Adam Yates and Colombian cyclist Juan Sebastián. Speaking to the Oman News Agency, he added that Jaico Al‑Ula is also firmly in contention for the top spots ahead of the Tour’s conclusion tomorrow, following the impressive form of Swiss cyclist Mauro Schmid, who won the Muscat Classic last Friday and claimed victory in Monday’s third stage.

Al Balushi further noted that Vismabike is closing in on a podium finish, after its young Polish rider Patryk Goschurny secured the white jersey twice in the under-23 category. At just 18 years old, Goschurny is the youngest participant in this year’s edition.

He also highlighted the strong showing of Lotto Intermarch, boosted by the success of French cyclist Baptiste Vesterover, who claimed one of the Tour jerseys during the opening two stages.
