MUSCAT : Oman waived around RO 100 million in labour-related fines during 2025 as part of a broader effort to regulate the labour market and help employers and workers regularise their status, the labour minister said on Monday.
Speaking at the Together Forward forum, His Excellency Professor Mahad bin Saeed Baawain said the waiver formed part of measures to address violations, improve compliance with labour laws and support market correction efforts across the Sultanate.
He said the initiative provided establishments and workers with a window to rectify their legal status, helping to stabilise the labour market while reinforcing adherence to regulations.

In a related update, Khalid bin Salim Al-Ghamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour, said progress had been made in integrating people with disabilities into the workforce.
Al-Ghamari said about 2,500 people with disabilities were employed in the private sector by the end of 2025, while around 2,000 were working in government jobs. He added that 100 additional positions would soon be offered in the public sector as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inclusion and expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
