MUSCAT : As part of its commitment to developing national competencies, empowering Omani youth, and strengthening partnerships with educational institutions in line with Oman Vision 2040 objectives to build a qualified and future-ready human capital, Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) participated as a sponsor in the Career Training Fair 2026, organized by Sohar University from 2 to 4 February 2026. The company’s participation aimed to introduce OETC and its role within Oman’s electricity sector, highlight the training opportunities and development programs offered to higher education institutions’ students, and showcase its key initiatives in practical training, professional qualification, and capacity building. The fair also provided a platform to spotlight OETC’s efforts in supporting applied learning and aligning academic outputs with the needs of the energy sector and labor market.
Through its engagement in such forums, OETC seeks to strengthen direct communication with students and academic institutions, explore areas of cooperation, and contribute to creating a motivating environment for learning and gaining hands-on experience. These efforts support youth readiness for future career pathways, particularly in engineering and technical disciplines related to the electricity and energy sectors.
This participation also forms part of OETC’s broader initiatives to enhance In-Country Value, by supporting local employment and training, empowering national talents, and providing practical opportunities that contribute to skills development and experience building. In parallel, the company continues to encourage partnerships with academic institutions, positively contributing to the national economy and reinforcing the sustainability of human capital within the energy sector.

In this context, Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Farsi, Transmission Regional Manager – Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, and Musandam at OETC, stated that the company continuously works to develop national talents and enhance their readiness to contribute to building a sustainable electricity system. He added that OETC is also expanding its partnerships and cooperation with universities and colleges, while implementing community initiatives that help raise awareness, promote knowledge exchange, and establish clear pathways for learning and career development.
Al Farsi added: “We firmly believe that investing in people is the foundation of sustainable development. OETC is responsible for the transmission network and load dispatch across the national grid, covering all governorates of the Sultanate. The company also manages interconnections with the GCC Interconnection Grid at 220 kV and operates under the Nama Group framework to support Oman’s vision of building a secure, reliable, and sustainable electricity ecosystem.
