MUMBAI — India have drafted fast bowler Mohammed Siraj into their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after pacer Harshit Rana was ruled out with a knee injury, the country’s cricket board said on Friday.

Rana sustained the injury during a training session and has been advised rest by the team’s medical staff, ruling him out of the remainder of the tournament. The selectors moved quickly to bring in Siraj, who has been part of India’s white-ball setup and brings experience across conditions.

Siraj, 30, has featured regularly for India national cricket team in recent seasons and is expected to strengthen the pace attack as India continue their T20 World Cup campaign.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said Siraj had joined the squad with immediate effect.
