MUSCAT : According to preliminary statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), despite the overall increase, car fuel production recorded a marginal decline of 0.1 percent in December 2025, amounting to 2.85 million barrels, compared to 2.85 million barrels in November 2025.
Production of regular (91) octane gasoline increased by 19.3 percent to 16.78 million barrels by the end of December 2025, compared to 14.06 million barrels during the same period in 2024. Sales rose slightly by 1.1 percent to 14.29 million barrels, while exports declined by 10.4 percent to 2.30 million barrels.
Premium (95) octane gasoline production recorded a notable increase of 20.1 percent, reaching 14.89 million barrels by the end of December 2025, compared to 12.40 million barrels a year earlier. Sales rose by 2.4 percent to 13.59 million barrels, while exports surged by 95 percent to 2.04 million barrels.
Gas oil (diesel) production increased by 12.8 percent to 34.47 million barrels, compared to 30.55 million barrels by the end of December 2024. Sales climbed by 7.2 percent to 15.17 million barrels, while exports rose by 10.8 percent to 18.29 million barrels.
In contrast, jet fuel production declined by 6.6 percent to 10.87 million barrels by the end of December 2025, compared to 11.64 million barrels in the same period last year. Sales fell by 1.7 percent to 3.90 million barrels, while exports decreased by 10.8 percent to 6.77 million barrels.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production increased by 16.4 percent to 7.73 million barrels, compared to 6.64 million barrels in 2024. Sales rose sharply by 22.1 percent to 3.93 million barrels, while exports more than doubled, surging by 127.4 percent to 821,200 barrels.
Petrochemical production also recorded growth during the period. Benzene production rose by 7.2 percent to 171,900 metric tons, while paraxylene output increased by 16.6 percent to 578,900 metric tons. Polypropylene production recorded the highest growth rate, surging by 81.3 percent to 357,000 metric tons.
On the export front, benzene exports increased by 4.5 percent to 171,100 metric tons, while paraxylene exports rose by 22.5 percent to 606,200 metric tons. Polypropylene exports recorded significant growth of 66 percent, reaching 263,600 metric tons by the end of December 2025.
