Muscat: On the proud occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India, warm greetings are extended to the people of India, the Indian community, and to friends and partners in the Sultanate of Oman.
Republic Day is a moment to reflect on India’s remarkable journey, from the ideals born in our Constitution to the resilient nation that we are becoming today. It is a celebration of democratic values, institutional strength, and a collective resolve to build a prosperous, inclusive, and forward-growing India.
India’s growth story today is anchored in a strong foundation; structural reforms, modern labour codes, digital public infrastructure, and a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that have propelled India into a new phase of development. From the success of our lunar missions to our role as the “Pharmacy of the World,” the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat is propelling us toward becoming a developed nation—Viksit Bharat—by 2047. As Bharat is on this development journey, it has achieved the status of being the world’s fastest-growing major economy and one of the leading global innovation hubs. India is shaping opportunities not only for its citizens but also for trusted friends and partners across the world.

Addressing the Indian community in Oman, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi highlighted the deep-rooted civilisational, cultural and maritime ties between India and Oman, nurtured over centuries. He lauded the Indian diaspora for strengthening people-to-people bonds and contributing positively to Omani society. Emphasising shared values and a forward-looking partnership, he said “The India-Oman Friendship Festival (Maitri Parv) symbolises this enduring relationship. MAITRI stands for Maritime heritage, Aspirations, Innovation, Trust & Technology, Respect, and Inclusive growth, reflecting the shared history and a prosperous future for both nations.” India and Oman stand upon a foundation laid over thousands of years, built through maritime commerce, cultural exchange and a shared history of cooperation, and our progress stands as a testament to this shared progress. Rooted in centuries of maritime relations across the Indian Ocean, our relationship has now evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership spanning trade, energy, logistics, education, technology, and people-to-people ties. The sea that once carried spices, textiles, and ideas now carries cooperation, connectivity, and shared ambition.

The recent visit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Oman in December 2025 marks a significant milestone in this enduring partnership. The signing of the India–Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, enhancing market access, boosting trade, and unlocking opportunities across sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, services, and emerging technologies. CEPA reflects India’s commitment to open, fair, and future-ready economic engagement.
Maritime cooperation remains a central pillar of our partnership. The Joint Vision on Maritime Cooperation underscores our shared commitment to safe sea lanes, maritime security, sustainable ocean resources, and regional stability. In this context, the voyage of INSV Kaundinya, inspired by ancient Indian shipbuilding traditions, was a powerful symbol, reconnecting history with the present and reliving the civilisational links that have bound India and Oman for centuries.
India’s leadership in the global energy transition also presents new avenues for collaboration. Initiatives in green hydrogen, green ammonia, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure demonstrate India’s resolve to pursue growth that is both economically robust and environmentally responsible. Oman’s partnership in these emerging sectors further strengthens our shared vision for a cleaner and more resilient future.
India’s emergence as a global leader in the “Techade,” driven by a robust ecosystem of Science, Technology, and Innovation, is noteworthy. From the historic milestones of the Gaganyaan mission and the expansion of the IndiaAI mission to the global footprint of our Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), India is redefining the boundaries of the digital frontier. With the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem and a specialised focus on semiconductor design and quantum computing, the nation is not just a consumer of technology but a primary architect of global digital solutions, aiming for a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
The potential of a strategic partnership between India and Oman is limitless. By leveraging Oman’s strategic location as a gateway to the Gulf and India’s vast pool of STEM talent, both nations are co-creating a future-ready workforce and a resilient technological supply chain that promises shared prosperity and security in the Indian Ocean Region.
Equally important are the human connections that underpin our relationship. The Indian community in Oman, our students, professionals, entrepreneurs, and innovators, continue to act as bridges of friendship, contributing to Oman’s development while strengthening people-to-people ties.
As we celebrate Republic Day, we do so with confidence, purpose, and optimism. Guided by constitutional values and powered by innovation, India is prepared to contribute meaningfully to global growth, stability, and sustainability. The India–Oman partnership, grounded in trust and shared aspirations, will continue to sail forward — from heritage to horizon.
