DAVOS — The global order is increasingly drifting away from established rules and international law, Emmanuel Macron warned on Tuesday, saying power politics are beginning to eclipse shared norms.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the French president said the world was moving toward an environment where international law is routinely ignored and strength, rather than rules, determines outcomes.

Macron said the erosion of legal frameworks was being accompanied by the return of what he described as “imperial ambitions,” raising concerns over stability, sovereignty and global cooperation.
