WASHINGTON : The broadcast aired on Wednesday showed a photograph of Trump taken during his 2024 campaign rally in Butler, referencing the assassination attempt on July 13, 2024. The on-screen message read, “This time it will not miss the target,” with Persian text stating that “the bullet won’t miss.” The image was shown on Iranian state television, alongside footage of a crowd.

The threat surfaced only hours after Reuters reported that the Trump administration had decided on a military strike against Iran, citing two European officials. According to one of the officials, US military intervention appeared likely and could take place within 24 hours. No official confirmation has been issued by Washington.

Israeli-American journalist Emily Schrader shared a screenshot of the broadcast on social media, showing a split screen with a crowd on one side and Trump’s image on the other, reinforcing concerns over the escalating rhetoric.

This is not the first time Tehran has issued such threats. In 2022, Iranian media circulated a video depicting a simulated assassination attempt on Trump at his Mar-a-Lago golf course, drawing sharp criticism from US officials at the time.

Meanwhile, Trump said on Wednesday that he had been informed “on good authority” that planned executions in Iran had stopped, despite indications from Tehran of expedited trials and executions as part of a broader crackdown on protesters. Trump offered few details to support the claim.

In recent days, Trump has addressed Iranian protesters directly, saying that “help is on the way” and that his administration would “act accordingly” in response to the Iranian government’s actions. However, he has not specified what form any US response might take, and it remains unclear whether his remarks signal a pause or escalation in potential military action.
