Muscat: The opening day saw strong participation from 125 players representing 18 countries, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere marked by varying technical levels and global approaches to the game. Early matches produced impressive results, underlining the tournament’s high standards from the very first round.
Khalid bin Khalfan Al-Subhi, Chairman of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee, said the strong international turnout reflects the confidence global federations and players have in Oman and its sporting institutions. He noted that the scale of participation confirms the success of the extensive organisational preparations carried out ahead of the championship.
Al-Subhi added that participating delegations and players praised the efficiency of the organisation and the readiness of the facilities from day one. He highlighted that the competitive sporting environment, combined with the broader Muscat Nights programme, has helped project a positive image of Oman as both a sporting and tourist destination capable of hosting major international tournaments.
