MUSCAT : The office is headed by HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, who also oversees the International Financial Centre of Oman, underscoring the office’s strategic role in aligning financial, economic, and investment priorities at the national level.
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs operates through a defined organisational structure comprising advisors and experts, a secretary general, and three directorates, including the Directorate General of Economic Planning. Among its senior advisors is HE Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Economic Advisor to the Office.
A key function of the office is government coordination. It follows up on the work of the Finance and Economic Committee within the Cabinet and supervises foresight programmes designed to support proactive and strategic decision-making in response to emerging economic challenges.

Strengthening partnerships with the private sector forms a core mandate of the office. This includes holding regular meetings with business leaders and investors to enhance cooperation, identify sectoral challenges, and ensure that economic policies are informed by market realities.
The office is responsible for the general oversight of development policies and strategies, ensuring coordination across national economic directions. It monitors economic performance, tracks the growth of the national economy, and oversees economic diversification programmes and approved development plans, working closely with relevant authorities to address challenges as they arise.
Another major focus area is global competitiveness. The office supervises the implementation of plans aimed at improving Oman’s performance in international development and competitiveness indicators, reinforcing the Sultanate’s position in global rankings.
Central to its mandate is the oversight of the economic objectives of Oman Vision 2040. The office monitors progress across key economic indicators, evaluates results, proposes solutions to challenges, and submits strategic recommendations to His Majesty the Sultan.
