MUSCAT : The operations, conducted in South Al Batinah and Dhofar governorates, resulted in the arrest of six individuals attempting to bring narcotics into the country using fishing vessels.
In the first case, the Directorate for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances at the South Al Batinah Governorate Police Command apprehended an individual of Asian nationality. The suspect was found hiding quantities of crystal meth and psychotropic pills inside a fishing boat. Authorities confirmed the individual intended to traffic and consume the substances. Legal procedures are currently underway.
In a separate operation, the Coast Guard Police in Dhofar Governorate intercepted five individuals of Yemeni nationality attempting to enter Oman’s territorial waters illegally. They were caught trying to smuggle drugs via a fishing boat with the intent to distribute the narcotics within the Sultanate. The suspects were arrested and referred for legal action.
