Investment in Oman’s logistics sector reaches RO 3.4 billion  

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced that investments in the logistics sector have risen to approximately RO 3.4 billion during the Tenth Five-Year Plan.

MUSCAT – Speaking at the Ministry’s annual media meeting, His Excellency Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said the Ministry has also succeeded in attracting investments worth around RO 1.2 billion in the communications and information technology sector in 2025. This figure includes nearly RO 65 million invested in artificial intelligence projects.

His Excellency noted that Omani ports recorded a significant increase in the volume of goods handled during 2025, exceeding 143 million tonnes. During the same period, ports received 60 tourist ships carrying approximately 200,000 passengers, highlighting growth in maritime and tourism activity.

According to the Minister, revenues in the port sector grew by 17.4 percent in 2025, while the maritime affairs sector recorded growth of 9.4 percent. The land transport sector also witnessed an increase in revenues, rising by 18 percent.

In the infrastructure sector, the Minister stated that the total length of roads currently under implementation in 2026 amounts to about 1,120 kilometres, with an estimated total cost of RO 1.2 billion.

His Excellency also noted that the total value of projects assigned to small and medium enterprises exceeded approximately RO 113 million in 2025.
