MUSCAT : Speaking during a radio interview recently, the minister said the progress achieved across the Sultanate over the past six years reflects His Majesty’s constant focus on serving citizens in all governorates. He noted that this approach has translated into measurable social, economic, and financial advancements, with international indicators and research institutions recognizing Oman’s steady progress during this period.
His Excellency Dr. Al Harrasi explained that His Majesty consistently stresses the importance of addressing emerging social and cultural challenges associated with the modern digital environment. He pointed to recent directives issued during a Council of Ministers meeting calling for in-depth studies of behavioural and societal changes, with the aim of developing clear, regulated policies that safeguard social cohesion. These directives, he said, stem from a leadership vision that prioritizes national stability and public welfare.
Addressing the impact of modern communication technologies, the minister said that while digital platforms have transformed societies, they also present valuable opportunities when used responsibly, including in education, self-development, institutional performance, and strengthening social ties. At the same time, he acknowledged the challenges these tools pose, particularly within families and among younger generations, noting that life experience remains a critical asset alongside technological skills.
He clarified that recent government discussions on regulating digital platforms are intended to protect youth from harmful influences that could affect their present capabilities and future prospects. Similar measures, he noted, have been adopted in several countries and focus on regulating specific harmful applications rather than restricting access to beneficial educational and cultural content.
On artificial intelligence, His Excellency Dr. Al Harrasi highlighted the vast potential of big data and rapid technological advancements, alongside the need to remain alert to associated risks. He said His Majesty’s leadership consistently emphasises a balanced approach that maximizes benefits while mitigating challenges.
In a world characterized by relentless change, political volatility, and intellectual flux, the Minister affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman stands as a nation of stability, progressing with confidence, balance, and an unwavering focus on human dignity at the core of its priorities. He emphasized that Oman has remained an oasis of stability amidst global turbulence, a testament to its wise leadership, rational policies, and steadfast refusal to be entangled in external conflicts or polarizations.
The Minister concluded by stating that this balanced, principled approach is the very foundation that built, protected, and has enabled Oman to navigate a turbulent world with steady resolution. He noted that the leadership’s clear objective—to serve the nation and its citizens, protect humanity, and preserve stability—is manifest in tangible results on the ground.
He affirmed that as Oman enters the seventh year of its “Renewed Renaissance,” it moves forward with a lucid vision that places the human being at the heart of all development, confronting challenges with awareness and facing the future with steadfast faith in the capabilities of the nation and its people.
