Oman records freezing temperatures; Jabal Shams hits -2.2°C

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reported a sharp drop in temperatures across several governorates of the Sultanate over the past 24 hours, with Jebel Shams recording the lowest temperature at –2.2°C.

MUSCAT : In a bulletin issued for Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Authority listed a range of low temperatures observed nationwide.

After Jebel Shams, Saiq recorded a low of 3.4°C, followed by Muqshin at 9.4°C and Haima at 10.0°C. Temperatures in Al Mazyunah reached 10.3°C, while Yanqul and As Sunainah recorded 11.2°C and 11.4°C respectively. Ibri saw a minimum of 11.8°C, with Thumrait at 12.3°C.

Meanwhile, Fahud and Hamra Al Drooa both recorded 12.5°C as their lowest temperatures during the same period.

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that all readings were taken from its official meteorological monitoring stations.
