Moscow: Speaking on the growing humanitarian concerns, Yasmin Braz-Dessemous, Director of Operations at the ICRC, said that recovering from the deficit accumulated over the past two years would take considerable time, alongside the urgent need to replenish depleted stocks of food, medical supplies, and other essential items.

She stressed that reopening the Rafah Crossing and ensuring the unimpeded entry of aid are vital to meeting the basic needs of Gaza’s population. According to Braz-Dessemous, the ICRC currently has hundreds of pallets of humanitarian assistance ready for delivery, including equipment and tools for repairing and maintaining water and sanitation systems, as well as food items, household supplies, and medical aid.

Despite a ceasefire agreement coming into effect on October 10, the Rafah crossing remains closed, preventing much-needed relief from reaching civilians and deepening the humanitarian strain in the territory.
