Dhaka: In an official order issued with immediate effect, authorities confirmed that all broadcasts, promotions and event-related coverage of the Indian Premier League have been suspended across Bangladesh. The directive will remain in force until further notice and has been approved by the competent authority, citing public interest.
The decision follows the removal of Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders roster, a move that triggered widespread backlash and what has come to be known as the “Mustafizur Row.”
The controversy has since widened beyond domestic broadcasting. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has formally asked the International Cricket Council to shift Bangladesh’s matches in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from India to Sri Lanka, citing a breakdown in trust over player security.
