Dhaka — The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided that the Bangladesh national team will not travel to India for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 under the current circumstances, citing concerns over the safety and security of players and officials.

In a media release issued on Sunday, the BCB said its Board of Directors held an emergency meeting to review recent developments related to the tournament, which is scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. After assessing the situation over the past 24 hours and considering advice from the Bangladesh government, the board expressed “deep concern” over matches slated to be played in India.

Following the decision, the BCB formally requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to consider relocating all of Bangladesh’s matches to a venue outside India. The board said the move is necessary to safeguard the well-being of players, team officials, board members and other stakeholders, and to ensure participation in a secure and appropriate environment.

The BCB said it is awaiting the ICC’s understanding of the situation and an urgent response on the matter.
