MUSCAT — Several banks in Oman have introduced free local money transfer services, allowing customers to send funds domestically at no cost through their banking applications.
The move is part of broader efforts to simplify financial transactions, enhance customer convenience and accelerate the shift toward digital payments across the Sultanate’s banking sector.
Under the service, customers can transfer money instantly within Oman without traditional transfer fees, using digital banking platforms and approved payment channels. Previously, banks charged fees for transfers between different local banks, a practice that had drawn widespread criticism from customers.

The rollout supports national goals to strengthen electronic payment systems, reduce reliance on cash and improve financial inclusion, in line with Oman’s wider digital transformation agenda.
