Muscat: The Tax Department in cooperation with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al Batinah South Governorate, organized an awareness seminar titled “Taxation in the Sultanate of Oman.” to enhancing the financial and legal awareness of entrepreneurs. The seminar targeted entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises to introduce them with the laws and regulations governing tax practices in the Sultanate of Oman, ensure proper compliance, and strengthen effective engagement with the business community.
The seminar covered several key topics such as: a review of the new organizational structure of the Tax Authority, followed by a detailed explanation for the types of taxes and the methodologies for their application and calculation, in addition to introducing the digital facilities and services available through the Tax Authority’s electronic portal. The seminar also focused on the consequences of tax evasion, stressing that voluntary compliance protects entrepreneurs from any legal penalties.
The organization of this seminar aligns with Oman Vision 2040, with a focus on effective partnership and the Tax Authority’s commitment to empowering the private sector and enhancing its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through a transparent and financially robust legislative environment that supports business growth and sustainability.
