Muscat: The latest data released by the CAA reveals a stark winter trend, with Saiq dipping below the freezing mark, the coldest reading of the season so far. This sub-zero temperature is a significant development, underscoring the sharp drop in mercury levels sweeping across various parts of the country.

Other regions also witnessed notably low temperatures. Mahdha and As Sunainah recorded 8.4°C, followed closely by Hamra Al Durooa (8.5°C) and Qumayra (8.6°C). Coastal and desert areas, while milder, still showed a clear dip with Thumrait and Haima registering around 6.1°C and 6.2°C respectively.

Meanwhile, despite the sharp morning lows, the daytime temperatures across the Sultanate remained moderate. Jalan Bani Bu Hassan registered the highest temperature of the day at 28.6°C, followed by Mirbat (28.2°C) and Dima Wattayeen (27.4°C). Even traditionally warmer coastal cities such as Salalah (26.4°C) and Masirah (26.5°C) felt the milder edge of the ongoing winter spell.
