Muscat: Oman denounced the attack that targeted civilians at one of Sydney’s busiest beaches, stressing its categorical rejection of violence and extremism in all forms and motivations. The Sultanate reiterated the importance of promoting coexistence and tolerance among different religions and cultures, while underscoring the need to strengthen international understanding and cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism worldwide.

Australian authorities said the mass shooting at Bondi Beach left at least 11 people dead and 29 others wounded, including two police officers. One man believed to be among the shooters was killed at the scene, while a second suspected gunman remains in critical condition.

Police have designated the incident as a terrorist attack, stating that it was “designed to target Sydney’s Jewish community on the first day of Hanukkah.”
