Dubai – Heavy rainfall and unstable weather conditions across parts of the United Arab Emirates have caused widespread delays to food delivery services, with several platforms warning customers of slower service and temporary suspensions to protect delivery riders.

On Sunday morning, delivery riders were seen halting operations along major highways, including Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, as heavy rain reduced visibility and made road conditions unsafe. Pooling of water and traffic congestion further complicated movement across several areas.

Major food delivery platforms issued alerts to users through their mobile applications, cautioning that orders may take longer than usual to arrive. Some services also temporarily paused deliveries in affected locations, citing rider safety as the primary concern.

Companies said the number of available restaurants and stores had also been impacted, as weather conditions disrupted normal operations. Customers were advised to expect limited options and extended delivery times until conditions improve.

The National Centre of Meteorology has forecast continued unsettled weather in parts of the country, including cloudy skies, rainfall and a drop in temperatures. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while driving and to follow official advisories during periods of reduced visibility and water accumulation.
