Al-Namaa Hospital project in Oman reaches 49% completion, set to open in 2026

Construction of the Al-Namaa Hospital in North Al-Sharqiyah Governorate has reached 49.2 per cent completion, with the project on track for full delivery by the end of October 2026.

Muscat: Engineer Yousef bin Yaqoub Ambo Ali, Director General of Projects and Health Services at the Ministry of Health, told the Oman News Agency that the project forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen health sector infrastructure and enhance integrated medical services across the Sultanate.

The hospital is being built on a land area of 428,000 square metres, with a total building area of 44,284.62 square metres, at an overall cost of RO 56.05 million. The expected completion date for construction works is October 31, 2026.

Once completed, Al-Namaa Hospital will house a wide range of medical and specialised departments. These include an emergency and accident department, a radiology department equipped with CT scans, MRI, X-rays, ultrasound, mammography and bone density scanning, a kidney unit with 16 beds, rehabilitation and physiotherapy services, a psychiatric unit, and a central sterilisation department.

The hospital will also feature outpatient clinics comprising 13 general clinics, three cardiology clinics and eight dental clinics, in addition to laboratories, a blood bank and a pharmacy.

Inpatient services will include wards for internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatric and adult intensive care, a specialised intensive care unit for premature infants, and an obstetrics and cardiology unit. The facility will also be equipped with five fully serviced operating rooms.

Supporting infrastructure will include service buildings, medical warehouses, staff facilities, administrative offices, a maintenance and medical equipment department, a helipad and public facilities.

Engineer Ambo Ali stressed that, upon completion, Al-Namaa Hospital will significantly enhance healthcare capacity in North Al-Sharqiyah and provide integrated medical services in line with the highest standards of quality and safety, supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to develop a sustainable and advanced health system.
