MUSCAT – Oman’s Ministry of Labour said it is following up on the termination of services of 125 employees at Ooredoo Oman, after reports circulated on social media regarding the layoffs at the telecommunications operator.
In a statement, the ministry said it coordinated with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and contacted Ooredoo Oman’s management, confirming that the company had offered severance packages to the affected staff.
The ministry said Ooredoo Oman proposed compensation equivalent to 24 months of salary for the impacted employees. Of the 125 workers, 114 accepted the offer, while 11 employees, representing about 9%, declined the settlement.

The ministry added that it has summoned the company’s management, the relevant labour union and the General Federation of Oman Workers to the Ministry of Labour to continue discussions aimed at reaching a mutually agreed resolution.
It reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the case closely and to taking all necessary measures to support job stability and protect the rights of Omani nationals employed in the private sector.
