Oman’s inflation rate rises by 1.5 percent

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 1.5 percent in October 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, based on the 2018 benchmark.

MUSCAT : The average inflation rate for the period from January to October of this year also increased by 0.9 percent, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The data showed that the average inflation rate for the miscellaneous personal goods and services group in the Sultanate of Oman during the period from January to October 2025 was 6.6 percent. This group topped the list with the highest increase at 8.8 percent in October compared to the same month of 2024; it is followed by the transport group at 3.9 percent; the restaurants and hotels group at 2.6 percent; the furniture, furnishings, household equipment and maintenance group at 2.5 percent, and the education group at 2.2 percent.

Data also indicated that the food and non-alcoholic beverages group saw a slight increase of 0.4 percent, and the prices of the clothing and footwear group and the health group each rose by 0.1 percent.

In contrast, prices for the culture and entertainment group recorded a decrease of 0.3 percent, while prices for the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group, the communications group, and the tobacco group remained stable without any change.

As far as the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages are concerned, the data confirmed the rise in a number of subgroups, with the fish group leading at 5.6 percent, followed by the sugar, jam, honey and sweets group at 3.7 percent, food products – not classified elsewhere – at 3 percent. Prices of milk, cheese and eggs group also rose by 0.9 percent, and that of the oils and fats group and the bread and cereals group increased by 0.5 percent each.

While the prices of the vegetable group decreased by 3.7 percent, followed by the fruit group by 0.4 percent, the meat group and the non-alcoholic beverage group also saw a slight decrease of 0.1 percent.
At governorates level, the data showed that Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate until the end of October 2025 compared to the same period last year at 2.9 percent. It is followed by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate at 2.1 percent, and Al Buraimi Governorate at 2 percent.

The inflation rate in both Musandam and Muscat governorates reached 1.5 percent each; 1.3 percent in South Al Batinah governorate, and 1 percent in Dhofar governorate. North Al Batinah and South Al Sharqiyah governorates recorded an inflation rate of 0.9 percent, while the inflation rate in Al Wusta governorate reached 0.8 percent.
