MUSCAT : Salalah Club secured second place, followed by Saham Club in third, Oman Club in fourth, and Al Bashair Club in fifth place.

As part of the Oman Sports Strategy activities, four additional clubs were recognised for their achievements across specific axes: Taqa Club received the Encouragement Award for Cultural, sports and youth activities, Quriyat Club for the Economy and development, Fanja Club for the Governance of Sports Bodies and performance enhancement, and Al Amerat Club for Sustainable Environment axis.

His Excellency Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, explained that the competition aims to promote comprehensive club management based on best practices in governance and planning. “It is designed to enhance the role of clubs as incubators for youth, instill values of citizenship and volunteerism, encourage diversified revenue sources, support promising athletes, and highlight the importance of clubs in society in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040,” he said.

He added that the competition has been updated this year to align with the Omani Sports Strategy 2040, which was adopted last year. The prize structure was enhanced, with rewards divided into two categories: one for the top five clubs with the highest overall scores, and another for the four clubs achieving the highest scores in each strategic axis of the Omani Sports Strategy.

The ceremony featured a visual presentation tracing the history of the Cup, its founding goals, the stages of development over the years, and a detailed explanation of the new evaluation system, including point calculation and selection criteria for the clubs.

The competition encourages clubs to adopt governance and quality standards, diversify income streams through cultural, sports, and youth initiatives, nurture promising athletes, expand the base of sports practitioners, and strengthen their role in youth development, volunteer work, and community engagement.
