MUSCAT : Nama Electricity Distribution Company confirmed that the current year has seen substantial progress across operational, technical, and service-focused fronts, reinforcing its commitment to modernising Oman’s electricity sector. The company said its investments were channeled into strengthening the distribution grid, expanding coverage to new subscribers, and adopting advanced digital systems to improve reliability and customer service.

For 2025, Nama allocated more than RO 120 million for development projects, primarily directed toward reinforcing the electrical grid, expanding networks for new customers, and adopting smart network management technologies. These initiatives support higher operational efficiency, fewer outages, and improved customer satisfaction.

The company’s multi-pronged projects include electricity grid expansion, home and commercial connections, industrial infrastructure support, and advanced automation solutions to integrate renewable energy sources into the distribution system.

Engineer Khalfan bin Nasser Al Bartamani, Head of Commercial Affairs, stated that electricity services now reach 100 percent of all populated areas in Oman—a milestone reflecting the company’s commitment to safe, sustainable, and reliable power delivery.

He added that Nama aims to raise customer satisfaction above its current 85 percent, backed by ongoing projects to reduce outages, boost responsiveness, and improve overall service quality.

Between January and October 2025, the company continued implementation of key projects nationwide:
11 kV projects: RO 60.9 million
33 kV projects: RO 19.02 million

These initiatives strengthen the stability of the power grid, support industrial and urban growth, and improve operational performance across all governorates.

Nama’s total capital expenditure until the end of October 2025 stood at RO 120.17 million, with an average monthly spending of RO 12 million.

May recorded the highest monthly expenditure at RO 14.33 million, driven by accelerated expansion in medium-voltage network development.

Officials said the company maintained balanced financial performance, with monthly spending ranging between RO 7.4 million and RO 14.3 million, reinforcing its goals of financial sustainability and grid reliability.

Nama achieved 647 days, equivalent to 16.9 million working hours—without any lost-time injuries across all operational sites as of August 2025. This marks one of its strongest safety performance records.

Nama continued supporting the Oman 2040 Vision, with spending exceeding RO 61 million on local products and services by Q3 2025:

RO 6 million spent on SMEs
RO 29 million on Riyada card holders
Local added value reached 45% of total annual spending

Omanization rates reached 98.6%, with 64% of the workforce fully localized. The company added 100 new jobs in emergency and maintenance services and provided specialized training for 18 Omani professionals in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman.

Nama completed its automatic load transfer system between transformers with 100% implementation, enabling automatic rerouting of electricity during faults to avoid interruptions.

Additionally, 95% of the remote monitoring and control system project has been completed, linking main and distribution stations for real-time performance management and faster emergency response.

A new advanced electronic system launched this year links communication teams and emergency crews, allowing subscribers to track outage teams via smartphone geolocation. These digital tools helped:

Reduce outage frequency by 14% compared to 2024
Cut average outage duration by 29% compared to 2024

Nama is expanding its renewable energy projects, operating 794 photovoltaic systems across various regions.

Total connected solar capacity now stands at:
84.3 MW AC
72.5 MW DC

Customer growth also reached 2.28% by Q3 2025, bringing the total number of subscribers to 1,381,627, compared to 1,350,792 in 2024.
