MUSCAT – This syndrome is considered a rare congenital vascular disorder, characterized by the presence of vascular malformations and overgrowth of a limb. This makes pregnancy in such cases high-risk due to the potential for blood clots, bleeding, and vascular complications. Managing these cases requires precise cooperation between different medical specialties due to challenges related to anaesthesia and delivery.

The case was managed through integrated cooperation among the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Vascular Surgery, Anaesthesiology, Radiology, and Neonatology. The patient received close monitoring until a successful delivery was completed without complications.

The medical team was supervised by Dr. Nihal bint Mohammed Al Riyami, Associate Professor at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University, and Senior Consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Medical City, and Dr. Edwin Stephen, Senior Consultant in the Department of Surgery at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital at the University Medical City.

This medical achievement is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman. It reflects the level of competence and readiness of the medical staff at the University Medical City and their ability to handle rare and complex cases within an advanced specialized care system.
