MUSCAT – The new platform is positioned as a key strategic tool for implementing national climate priorities, attracting climate finance, and strengthening international cooperation.

Speaking at the session titled ‘Delivering Climate Solutions through Country Platforms’, Environment Authority’s Dr. Thuraya Al Sariri said the platform is being designed as an integrated national system that will serve as a central hub for coordination and investment. It will bring together national climate priorities, financial resources and international partnerships under one framework, enabling the transformation of national strategies into effective, high-impact programmes and supporting the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.

Dr. Al Sariri pointed out that the platform is built on three core principles: national ownership, partnership and transparency. She explained that advanced digital tools will be used to enhance data accessibility, track climate investments, measure progress and strengthen trust with local and global partners, reflecting Oman’s readiness to deliver meaningful climate outcomes with national leadership and international relevance.

The initiative is being led by the Environment Authority, working in cooperation with all relevant national institutions, and open to collaboration with international organizations, private-sector actors and regional partners.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the 2050 Net-Zero Strategy, the national platform will focus on priority sectors for mitigation and resilience, including clean energy and green hydrogen, water resources, agriculture and climate adaptation, waste management and the circular economy, and private-sector climate finance.

The Sultanate affirmed that the platform will serve as a central mechanism for managing and coordinating all funding requests submitted to international climate funds, ensuring they align with national priorities developed in partnership with key stakeholders across Oman.
