CHENNAI : Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings have completed a blockbuster three-player trade that sends Sanju Samson to CSK, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran moving the other way — a swap widely regarded as one of the most significant in IPL history.
As part of the agreement, Sanju Samson and Sam Curran will join their new teams on their existing contracts, valued at INR 18 crore and INR 2.4 crore respectively. Ravindra Jadeja’s fee, however, has been revised from INR 18 crore to INR 14 crore to facilitate the deal.
Samson, who spent 11 seasons with Rajasthan Royals and captained the side from 2021 to 2025, had indicated after last season that he was ready for a new challenge and requested a release. His move to Chennai marks a major strategic shift for the five-time champions, who have long sought a marquee Indian batter to anchor their top order.

Jadeja’s transfer to Rajasthan represents a homecoming of sorts. The allrounder began his IPL career with the Royals in 2008 and now returns after more than a decade as one of the league’s most influential players. Jadeja had been a mainstay at CSK since 2012 — aside from the franchise’s suspension in 2016 and 2017 — and briefly captained the team in 2022.
For Curran, the move to Rajasthan adds a third chapter to his IPL journey, having previously played for Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings between 2019 and 2025. The England allrounder, acquired by CSK for INR 2.4 crore last season, shifts to RR under the same contract.
The high-profile swap reshapes both franchises ahead of IPL 2026 and is expected to play a major role in how the two teams recalibrate their core combinations for the new season.
