MUSCAT: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) participated as part of the official delegation of the Sultanate of Oman in the Global University Presidents Forum and the International Conference on Higher Education 2025, held in Hangzhou, in China, from November 7 to 10, 2025. The event focused on discussing the future of higher education and the role of artificial intelligence in advancing global educational and research systems.

The university delegation was headed by H.E. Dr. Said Hamed Al Rubaii. Vice Chancellor, of UTAS. The forum brought together presidents of leading universities, representatives of international organizations, and experts in education and artificial intelligence from more than 40 countries.

H.E. Dr. Al Rubaii emphasized that the university s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening its international presence and fostering academic collaboration. He added that the conference serves as an important platform for exchanging experiences, showcasing best global practices in applying artificial intelligence in education, enhancing university outcomes, and building future research and institutional partnerships.

The conference program included panel discussions and bilateral meetings covering key themes such as: innovation in higher education in the age of artificial intelligence, development of digital learning models, promoting educational equity, enhancing scientific research, transforming research outcomes into practical applications, and building international partnerships to support the quality and sustainability of higher education.

Additionally, the UTAS delegation participated in several consultative meetings with international universities and educational institutions to explore opportunities for cooperation in academic and research fields, student and faculty exchange, and the development of joint programs in technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation.

This participation aligns with the university s global engagement strategy and its pursuit of leadership in technology and innovation, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to build a high-quality, innovative, and globally competitive education system.
