NEW DELHI: At least eight people were killed and several others injured after a car exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday, sending shockwaves through one of the most heavily guarded areas of the national capital.
The blast occurred close to Gate No. 1 of the metro station, according to officials from the Delhi Fire Department, who said the explosion also triggered a blaze that engulfed three to four nearby vehicles. Firefighting teams quickly arrived at the scene and brought the flames under control.
