Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has announced a series of major investment tenders for the design, construction, financing, operation and eventual transfer of ownership of key strategic road projects across the Sultanate of Oman.

The initiative forms part of the government’s strategy to expand the nation’s transport infrastructure, enhance mobility, and stimulate private sector participation in major national development projects. The ministry has invited specialised local and international companies to submit proposals, aiming to develop advanced investment routes that complement existing road networks and strengthen Oman’s logistics and connectivity ecosystem.

Among the flagship projects is the Bausher–Amerat Tunnel, a significant development expected to dramatically improve traffic flow and shorten travel times between the wilayats of Bausher and Al Amerat. The tunnel is designed to offer a faster, safer and more efficient route within Muscat Governorate, supporting the capital’s growth and improving commuter mobility.
