SHARJAH : In the decisive third and final round of Group A matches, Altyn Asyr struck first in the 29th minute through Zafar Babajanov. However, Al Shabab mounted a strong comeback, led by their Kenyan professional Markine, who equalized just before halftime in the 45th minute. The momentum carried into the second half, with Hatem Al Roshdi netting twice, in the 53rd and 90+2 minutes, sealing a comprehensive win for the Omani side.
With this triumph, Al Shabab completed the group stage with a perfect record of nine points from three matches. Earlier, they edged Bhutan’s Paro FC 1-0 in the opener and defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Abdish Ata FC 2-1 in the second match.
