MUSCAT (TAS News) — Oman will participate for the first time in the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2025, to be held in Tamil Nadu, India, from November 28 to December 10, the Oman Hockey Association (OHA) announced.
The milestone comes after the International Hockey Federation (FIH) confirmed Oman’s inclusion as a replacement for Pakistan, who declined participation. Oman secured the slot as the next highest-placed team from the Junior Asia Cup 2024.
The 2025 edition will also mark the first time in history that both the men’s and women’s Junior World Cups will feature 24 participating nations, in line with FIH’s Empowerment and Engagement Strategy to promote inclusivity in world hockey.

In a statement, the OHA expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Oman Olympic Committee, and various partners and sponsors for their support in developing hockey across the Sultanate.
The association said the qualification represents a major step forward in Oman’s hockey development and provides a valuable opportunity for young Omani players to gain experience on the global stage. Preparations for the team’s participation will be announced in due course.
