MUSCAT – The event highlights the growing significance of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) as a national and regional hub for sustainable investment and innovation.

During the opening session, Eng. Ahmed Akaak, CEO of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, announced that the volume of investments committed to implementation in the zone had reached over RO 6.3 billion by the end of June 2025. He added that SEZAD recorded a growth rate of 5.3 percent until mid-year compared to 2024, and a remarkable 71.8 percent increase compared to the end of 2022.

The two-day forum will witness the signing of three major agreements and two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing Duqm’s industrial and logistical infrastructure.

The agreements include the establishment and operation of facilities for storing petroleum and chemical products; the creation of a specialised company to manage the energy sector supply chain; and the construction of a social complex for Marafiq Duqm using 3D printing technology, underscoring Duqm’s growing focus on digital innovation and sustainable construction.

In addition, two MoUs – the first for the development of an integrated tourism, residential, and commercial project in Al Duqm; and the second between Duqm Port Company and Japan’s Nippon Yusen Line, aimed at enhancing cooperation in maritime transport and port infrastructure – will also be signed.
