MUSCAT – The decision is based on the Food Safety Law issued by Royal Decree No. 84/2008, as well as Royal Decree No. 92/2020, which restructured and renamed the ministry. The resolution also references the Food Safety Regulation issued under Ministerial Resolution No. 2/2010.
According to Article 1 of the resolution, the import of bottled water and its products from Iran is prohibited until the reasons for the ban are resolved and a further decision is issued.
Article 2 stipulates that competent authorities shall implement this decision, each within its area of jurisdiction.
The decision will be published in the Official Gazette and comes into effect the day after its publication.
