MUSCAT — Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan received a grand welcome from thousands of Keralities as he addressed the Indian Community Festival at Al Amerat on Friday, reaffirming his government’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of Keralites around the world.

In his address, Vijayan expressed deep appreciation for the vital role played by Keralites in strengthening the social and economic fabric of both Kerala and the Sultanate of Oman.

“The welfare of our people living abroad has always been the top priority of our government,” the Chief Minister said. He noted that the state continues to expand programs to support non-resident Keralites, including rehabilitation initiatives, investment facilitation, and comprehensive social security schemes.

Vijayan also highlighted the Loka Kerala Sabha, an initiative launched to connect the global Malayali diaspora with the state’s development journey. He described it as a “bridge between Kerala and its people across the world,” enabling expatriates to actively participate in policymaking, community projects, and investment opportunities. “Through the Loka Kerala Sabha, we are ensuring that every Malayali has a voice in shaping Kerala’s future,” he emphasized.

The Chief Minister praised the enduring friendship between Oman and Kerala, calling it a relationship built on “trust, respect, and shared prosperity.” He commended the Omani leadership for fostering an inclusive environment that allows the Indian community to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth.

Vijayan’s visit marks the first by a Kerala Chief Minister to Oman in 26 years—since the late E.K. Nayanar’s 1999 trip—underlining his administration’s focus on strengthening diaspora engagement and enhancing cultural and economic cooperation with the Sultanate.
