SHARJAH : The fine cancellations are being carried out in accordance with the Executive Council’s decision, which allows individuals to clear fines older than 10 years by paying a fee of Dh1,000 per cancellation request.

Certain humanitarian and special cases are exempt from the Dh1,000 fee, including instances where the vehicle owner has passed away, left the country for over 10 consecutive years, or where vehicles have been abandoned and owners are untraceable. Eligible individuals can apply for the cancellation through Sharjah’s traffic and licensing service centers.

Authorities have also reminded residents to remain vigilant and compliant with traffic regulations to uphold public safety and promote discipline on the roads. In parallel, the Executive Council has introduced structured incentives to encourage timely payments: motorists can receive a 35 percent discount on fines paid within 60 days, covering fines, impoundment, and storage fees, or a 25 percent discount if paid between 60 days and one year, applicable to fines only.
