MUSCAT – The average inflation rate for the period from January to September 2025 also increased by 0.8 percent, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The data showed that the miscellaneous personal goods and services group recorded the highest price increase at 7.6 percent. This was followed by the transport group at 4.5 percent, and the restaurants and hotels group at 2.6 percent. The health group registered an increase of 0.8 percent, the clothing and footwear group 0.4 percent, and the education group 0.1 percent.
In contrast, prices for the food and non-alcoholic beverages group decreased by 0.5 percent, the culture and entertainment group by 0.2 percent, and the furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance group by 0.1 percent. Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, as well as the communications and tobacco groups, remained unchanged.

Regarding the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages in September 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, the data indicated that several sub-groups recorded increases. The sugar, jam, honey, and confectionery group topped the list at 3.4 percent, followed by the food products not classified as another item group by 3.3 percent, and the oils and fats group at 1.9 percent. Prices for the milk, cheese, and eggs group rose slightly by 0.8 percent.
Meanwhile, prices for the vegetables group decreased by 7.5 percent, followed by the fruits group at 1.6 percent, and the meat group with a 0.6 percent decrease. The non-alcoholic beverages group registered a slight decline of 0.2 percent.
At the governorate level, the data showed that Al Dhahirah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate by the end of September 2025, at 1.9 percent, compared to the same period last year. It was followed by Al Dakhiliyah at 1.6 percent, and Al Buraimi Governorate at 1.3 percent.
The inflation rates in Muscat and South Al Batinah governorates reached 1.1 percent, each.
It was followed by North Al Batinah and Musandam governorates with a rate of 0.8 percent, and South Al Sharqiyah and Dhofar governorates with 0.6 percent each, while North Al Sharqiyah governorate recorded an inflation rate of 0.5 percent. Al Wusta governorate recorded the least inflation rate of 0.4 percent.
