MUSCAT – The World Cancer Congress, Summit & Exhibition 2025, organised by the Oman Cancer Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Qatar Cancer Society, will take place from November 3 to 6 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre,

The four-day global conference aims to foster international cooperation in cancer control by promoting healthcare innovations, enhancing prevention strategies, and supporting scientific research. It seeks to build a sustainable framework of collaboration to make the world safer from one of the most pressing health challenges of our time.

The event will feature a comprehensive agenda, including scientific sessions, policy forums, and community engagement activities. Key topics will include advances in healthcare technologies, public policies for cancer prevention and control, and strategies to enhance community awareness. An accompanying exhibition will showcase the latest developments in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, digital health, and artificial intelligence.

His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, emphasised that Oman’s hosting of this international conference reflects its deep commitment to strengthening global partnerships in cancer prevention, awareness, and treatment.

“Through this global platform, we aim to exchange expertise, highlight cutting-edge research, and adopt best practices that will help develop medical competencies and accelerate the treatment and recovery process,” he said.

Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development, also noted the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration. According to her, hosting such conferences reflects the vital role of civil society in supporting national development goals and creating partnerships across sectors to serve humanity and protect public health.

Dr. Wahid bin Ali Al Kharousi, Chairman of the Oman Cancer Association, described the event as a significant milestone in the Association’s journey since its founding in 2000.

He acknowledged the strong backing of the Government of Oman, as well as the involvement of multiple ministries and institutions, including the Ministries of Health, Social Development, Foreign Affairs, and Heritage and Tourism, alongside the Oman Medical Specialty Board.

Dr. Al Kharousi announced that the conference will bring together leading international experts in oncology, diagnostics, palliative care, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine. Cutting-edge topics such as immunotherapy, personalized vaccines, and advanced cell therapies will be explored in depth.
He revealed that a key outcome of the summit will be the drafting of a joint declaration – to be presented by the Oman Cancer Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Health – which will be shared with participating countries as adaptable guidelines for cancer prevention and control. This initiative reflects Oman’s leadership in fostering regional and international cooperation in cancer care.

He explained that the conference will yield important results, most notably building local and regional capacities for early detection and effective treatment, adopting political and regulatory frameworks through the Muscat Declaration, enhancing research cooperation and technology transfer, increasing community awareness, establishing sustainable partnerships across various sectors, and achieving better funding for the activities of the Oman Cancer Association.

The event will also serve as an accredited platform for Continuing Medical Education (CME), with credits provided by the Oman Medical Specialty Board.

The conference will conclude with the 21st Annual Cancer Awareness March, organised by the Oman Cancer Association, featuring participation from government officials, healthcare professionals, stakeholders, and the wider community. The march will include awareness campaigns, sports activities, and outreach events to promote public understanding and solidarity with cancer patients and their families.

Dr. Al Kharousi noted that the 2025 summit coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Oman Cancer Association, marking a quarter-century of impactful work in raising awareness, supporting treatment and palliative care, and enhancing Oman’s global standing in the fight against cancer.

The World Cancer Summit 2025 is an opportunity to strengthen the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading regional centre for collaborative health work and consolidate its commitment to promoting public health and achieving sustainable development in this field.
