MUSCAT – Statistics issued by the Central Bank of Oman indicate that the total investments of conventional commercial banks in securities decreased by 3.2 percent to approximately RO 6.1 billion by the end of August 2025.
While the investments of these banks in government development bonds rose by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching RO 2.2 billion, their investments in foreign securities declined by 7 percent, reaching RO 2.3 billion by the end of last August.
On the liabilities side, total deposits at conventional commercial banks increased by 5.5 percent, reaching RO 26.1 billion as of the end of August 2025.

Within total deposits, government deposits with commercial banks rose by 9.6 percent to approximately RO 5.9 billion, while deposits with public sector institutions decreased by 7.8 percent to approximately RO 1.7 billion.
Private sector deposits increased by 6.1 percent to reach RO 17.5 billion by the end of August 2025, representing 67 percent of total deposits in conventional commercial banks.
