MUSCAT : The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have intensified their crackdown on unsafe passenger transport in Al Wusta Governorate, stopping multiple drivers who were using private vehicles to carry passengers illegally.

The ROP said the violations pose serious risks to public safety, as private and unlicensed vehicles are not equipped or approved for passenger transport. Officers have taken legal action against the offenders, with procedures now underway.

Authorities warned that such practices not only endanger lives but also undermine the integrity of Oman’s transport system and road safety standards.

The ROP urged all motorists to strictly adhere to transport regulations, stressing that vehicles must only be used for their approved purposes to ensure the safety of passengers and the wider community.
