NEW YORK — US President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of a peace plan for Gaza.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the deal ensures that “all hostages will be released very soon,” while Israeli forces will “withdraw to an agreed line” as part of the initial steps toward what he described as a “strong, durable, and everlasting peace.”
The breakthrough follows three days of indirect negotiations in Egypt, with mediation by officials from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States. Both Israel and Hamas have confirmed that an agreement has been reached.
